Twickenham Ladies suffered a six-run defeat to Letchworth on Saturday.
With nothing much between these clubs in the league table, this was an important game for both teams to win.
Twickenham away to Letchworth won the toss and elected to field.
Their bowlers able supported by some good fielding and sharp catches kept the runs to a minimum and when Letchworth lost their 10th wicket in the 42nd over, only 117 runs had been given away.
Natasha Chapman took 3 for 21, Randika Galhenage 2 for 4 and Ann Baker 2 for 26.
With just 118 runs to get in 45 overs, this should have been a game that Twickenham should have easily won. However, the Letchworth bowlers had other ideas and were equally impressive with their bowling taking the wicket of Galhenage in the first over.
Their bowling continued on a good line and length making Twickenham earn every run.
Three run outs showed what pressure Twickenham were under to get these runs and when the final ball was delivered, it was disappointing that despite having one wicket in hand they were 6 runs short of victory.
Next week see Twickenham enter the inaugural Southern League Super 8's competition which runs through August and early September to take them to their last league match on 20th September.
