Carshalton’s Tony Owen admits he still has a lot to learn despite extending the unbeaten start to his career last weekend.
The light-welterweight earned his third consecutive victory with a comfortable points win over Daniel Thorpe in a four-round contest in Redhill on Saturday.
Even so, the 22-year-old was not totally happy with his display.
Owen said: “I definitely feel that I can get a lot better.
“There are still plenty of things that I need to learn and it is going to take a lot of time.
“But I am young, I am in no rush and it is all about taking things bit by bit.”
Owen expects to be back in the ring in September as he looks to stay active.
And the bricklayer by trade is happy to adopt the low-key approach.
He added: “I felt pretty comfortable in the Thorpe fight - I won every round and if it had gone on a bit longer I would have stopped him.
“But I am happy to keep under the radar at the moment.
“I am just going to keep my head down in the gym and beat whoever gets put in front of me, and my manager can make the decision on when it is right for me to step up a level.”
