Sutton hurdler Andy Turner believes he can make the World Championship final next month and prove UK Athletics was wrong to stop his funding.

The 28-year-old was the most high profile name to be cut from the list of athletes receiving lottery assistance last November when head coach Charles van Commenee opted to target the support at athletes capable of medal success at London 2012.

However, an impressive season, including third place at Crystal Palace in 13.66 seconds last Friday and sixth in Monaco in 13.44 on Tuesday, has led Turner to believe he may even be able to gatecrash the medals in Berlin next month and stick two fingers up at UKA.

"Whatever I do during the season does not mean anything really unless I make the final," he said.

"That is what they want.

"If I do not make the final they will say they were justified in what they did so winning around the world throughout the season is nice to do but it does not really mean anything.

"I am confident I can make the final and the way things are going I think a 13.2 is going to medal and I know I have that in me.

"The race at Crystal Palace was pretty poor timewise but I have had a lot of races lately and I have been all over the world so I am feeling a bit tired."

The race in Monaco was Turner's final preparation for Berlin and he will now take two weeks off to get himself ready.

"I have got a few weeks now to rest and train hard and get things sharp and ready to role in Berlin," he said.

"I will be going out to Portugal for two weeks to get some warm weather training and I'm happy with where I am right now.

"There were a lot of the worlds best at Crystal Palace so it's exciting times right now."
