Belgrave's Hassan Raidi was chased home all the way by Surrey-based Shaftesbury Barnet runner Gareth Price in a closely contested Elmbridge 10k road race at Walton on Sunday.
Raidi headed home the 650-strong field in 31 minutes, 42 seconds to fend off Price by just four seconds, with Herne Hill's Ben Paviour some way back in third (33:02).
He was eight seconds ahead of Dorking's Nick Hodges with Stragglers' Jimmy Goulis fifth in 33:13, Belgrave's Malachi Byansi sixth in 33:14 and Clapham Chasers' James Ellis seventh in 33:16.
Ranelagh's over 50-vet Dave Wright beat all the over 40 veterans to produce the top age graded performance finishing 12th in 34:10.
Tadworth's Geoff Newton was first veteran over 60 in 39:14, 50 seconds clear of Hercules Wimbledon's Steve Badgery Veteran Anna Critchlow from West 4 Harriers was top woman in 37:24 beating Wimbledon Windmilers' Paula Rutherfoord (37:47) and Ranelagh's Jo Ronaldson (38:53).
* Members of Ranelagh Harriers are reeling from the sudden death of one of the club's most popular runners Stephen Instone. Instone, who was 54, drowned while on holiday with his wife and two children in Switzerland.
