Southey Bowls Club’s NathanBeeson took the £1,500 first prize from the Worthing Unified Singles Championship last weekend.
He beat David Moses from Sussex 21-12 in a high-class final, which boasts the highest purse in an open bowls tournament in the country.
Beeson was also a member of the Raynes Park-based club’s entry, along with Steve Wessier and Ray Carey, who reached the triples final. But they went down 19-14 to Sussex’s David Hubbard, Marc Duson and David Cornwall.
Chris Jones and Peter Hamilton of Epsom Park reached the final of the pairs, only to be beaten by Gary and Adrian Snook from Hampshire.
