Twickenham Ladies fell just short in their Southern League Super 8s final clash against Kent side Leeds & Broomfield.
In the first of the semi-finals matches Twickenham ladies faced Radlett. Thanks to some good bowling the ladies restricted Radlett to 98 for 5 wickets in their 15 overs.
With Radlett's first wicket falling at 82, the ladies added another 4 wickets for just 16 more runs.
Sunny Pottay's demon bowling capturing 4 of the 5 wickets.
In reply Twickenham reached the target comfortably in the 13th over with 5 wickets to spare; Alys Donnelly with a fine batting performance of 35 not out, along with Randika Galhenage 18 and Karen Wilton 16.
The ladies then faced Leeds and Broomfield from Kent who had defeated Brighton and Hove in their semi-final game.
The two teams had never played each other before. Again Twickenham's bowling plus a excellent run out was good enough to restrict them to 114 for 5.
Pottay again doing her magic with the ball taking two of those wickets.
Top scorer for Leeds and Broomfield was Melanie Abeysinghe on 36 not out, followed by Riti Patel 18 and ex-Twickenham player Nithu Jayalath 17.
Leeds and Broomfield showed their sharpness in the field with 3 good runs outs, putting pressure on Twickenham to get the runs. Despite Kat Dicken's pushing the runs 42 not out and Pottay 17, the ladies were 9 runs short of victory when the final ball was delivered.
All credit to Leeds and Broomfield for taking the inaugural Super 8's trophy back to Kent.
this coming Sunday 20th sees us on The Green for the last of our league matches versus Orpington Nomads from Kent
