Surrey bowlers lifted two singles titles at the Home Counties Bowling Association Championships at Croydon BC on Sunday.
The finalists from competitions in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Kent, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Sussex and Surrey came to together to contest five disciplines.
Weybridge’s Mark Bishopp took the men’s singles title thanks to a 21-9 victory over Simon Jee of Middlesex.
That followed up a 21-17 win over Mark Charelett of Oxfordshire in the quarter-finals and a 21-16 win over Andy Smallridge of Sussex in the last four.
There was also a convincing final victory for Cheam’s Gareth McDonagh romped to a 21-8 success over George Schab of Oxfordshire in the U25 singles.
McDonagh had found it tougher in the semi-final before pipping Charlie Bell of Buckinghamshire 21-17.
However, Cheam’s Mike Gray, Mike Appleford and Gary Stevens blew a 16-3 lead in the triples final and were pipped 17-16 by a Kent team skipped by Steve Savage.
Surrey picked up more than £300 in prize money for finishing second in the Senior Home Counties BA league, played throughout the season, and for the U25s in the Junior League.
