Epsom & Ewell Harriers’ Jacob Paul won the English schools’ junior boys’ pentathlon title at Bedford last Saturday.
The 14-year-old, in his second season of athletics, finished with a lifetime best score of 3,127 points, beating the 3,000 points barrier for the first time.
Paul was third going into the final event, the 800m, but produced a storming run to snatch gold by just 12 points.
