Epsom’s men’s team beat Old Cranleighans 2-1 in their final pre-season friendly to record their third successive victory ahead of the start of the Surrey/Hampshire league campaign.
Epsom dominated the first half yet couldn't break through Cranleighans’ defensive game.
Their frustrations grew as, against the run of play, Cranleighans took the lead.
This was the wake-up call Epsom needed, as they fought back the deficit to win 2-1 with goals from player/coach Mahmood Bhatti and Russell Tebay.
Epsom will start their bid to return to the South Premier League with an away game on Saturday against UCL Academicals.
Meanwhile, Epsom’s men's 2nd XI had to fight to gain a hard-fought win at home to Mid-Sussex.
Asam Mohammed, Tom Pierce and Jonathan Hugo were all on target for the third team in a 3-3 draw against Reigate Priory 2.
