Unseasonably warm sunshine greeted the runners in Kingston & Polytechnic’s opening cross country race of the season in Richmond Park last Saturday.
Andy Arbour took the Bert Long Trophy, for winning the five-mile club championship as Kingston runners took the first five places. Arbour clocked 28 minutes 45 seconds and was followed by Craig Price (29:11), over-50 runner Ant Budarkiewicz (30:18), Matt Hyett (31:00) and Michael Huntley (31:23).
Thames Hare & Hounds pair Nic Gould (32:03) and Chris Hubter (32:03) were sixth and seventh.
Kingston & Polytechnic's Maddy Hardwick was first woman (33:32), while clubmate Bob McDonough was first over-65 (35:23).
