Olympic legend and gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent was a special guest at a dinner and auction held at Lady Eleanor Holles School, Hampton.
Pinsent was introduced to guests by the LEH’s head of rowing, Gillian Lindsay, who is the holder of a silver medal, won at the Sydney Olympics.
During a motivating and humorous talk, he shared some of the most memorable experiences of his rowing career, and provided the chance for an enraptured audience to see and touch his four Olympic gold medals.
The evening was rounded off with an auction, the proceeds of which will be shared between Pinsent’s chosen charity, SPARKS, and fundraising for the LEH senior rowing trip to Australia, which takes place later this year. The auction items included signed rowing memorabilia and tickets to Henley.
