South London Harriers' Jason Simpson claimed the club's five-mile cross country championship in fine style on Saturday.
He finished in 26 minutes, 29 seconds, over two minutes clear of his nearest rival and clubmate Matt Chapman (28.41).
The classic race for the Gibb Cup is one of South London Harriers’ oldest and this was the 121st running of the event held annually over a taxing course on Farthing Downs.
Over 50 veteran David Ogden took third place in 28.42 with the first female competitor, Georgie Bruinvels, hot on his heels to finish fourth overall in 28.43.
Paul Hone was fifth in 28.54, Tony Harron sixth (28.59), Glenn Quarton seventh (29.02), David Baker eighth (29.07), Daniel Gillett ninth (29.47) and Phil Scarles tenth (30.04).
Pippa Major was second woman to finish in 32.40 with Ruth Hutton third in 33.30.
Visiting athlete, Geoff Newton of Tadworth AC took the veteran 60 prize.
Next week SLH athletes take part in the first of the season’s Surrey Cross Country fixtures at Reigate.
