Foley ABC’s Steve Ellis made a winning start to the new season in a cracking bout on the Tichfield ABC Open show in Hampshire.

Despite facing a partisan home crowd in his fight against Floyd Moore, Ellis came out for the first round in a calm and calculated fashion, scoring points with his jab and precision punching to the head and body.

Moore fought back with credit and the first round ended fairly evenly.

In the second round Ellis, 22, stepped up the work rate and pushed Moore back with flurries of scoring punches.

In the third, Ellis’s extra fitness really started to show and Moore was all but out on his feet when the bell rang.

Meanwhile, Young’s Brewery is trying to help Foley relocate to a new home as the club gym in Claygate, their home for 40 years, will be demolished as part of a new hotel complex on the site.

Foley host a dinner show on Saturday, November 14, at Sandown Park Racecourse.
