English schools intermediate girls’ 800m champion Katie Snowden clocked the fastest lap of the day in anchoring Herne Hill to the team title in the Bruce Judd Surrey women’s U17 cross country relay championship at Stoke Park, Guildford, on Saturday.
The 15-year-old ran a storming final leg after taking over in second place, seven seconds behind leaders Kingston & Polytechnic.
Snowden clocked a swift 7:50 – four seconds faster than the second best runner – as Herne Hill beat their rivals.

Hercules Wimbledon’s Liam White posted the fastest time of the day of 6:47 in the men’s U17s relay, but narrowly failed to secure the title for his club, reducing the lead of Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow from 19 seconds to two.

After leading the opening two legs, Herne Hill’s challenge petered out in the opening race of the day, the boys’ U13s relay, with the team eventually dropping to sixth place on the anchor stage.

Epsom & Ewell’s Lucy Drummond clocked the fastest time in the girls’ U13s relay of 8:24 in lifting her team from 11th to sixth place on the final stage.
