Peter Chambers continued his impressive cross-country season on Saturday as he won the intermediate race at the English Schools Team Cross-Country running finals.
Two teams from Trinity School made the long journey down to Newquay and both finished in the top eight of more than 25 teams participating in each of the junior and intermediate boys races, giving them an aggregate second placing across the two events.
The highlight was no doubt Chambers notching up another win.
Having set off fast in the intermediate race and leading for a good way, he hit a bad patch and dropped back down the field.
However, he recovered brilliantly on the final climb and swept past the leader for a wonderful win.
Michael Gee, second home for Trinity ran with grit and determination in 31st place, closely followed by Andrew Fanthorpe 50th and Rhys Morton 80th to complete the scoring and give them eighth place.
In the juniors event, the highly competitive Harvey Stainthorpe led early on and did extremely well to hold eighth place.
Laurence Rook, a year younger, shone too 20 seconds back in 29th while third and fourth Trinity scorers Daniel Thompson, who finished 41st, and William Holmes, 64th, were only 13 seconds apart.
Their very good runs and the supporting efforts of Harry Stoneham and Nicholas Thompson helped earn the school sixth place.
