Runners from Serpentine Running Club dominated the annual Ellis Men's Trophy and Women's Dysart Cup cross country races staged by Ranelagh Harriers in Richmond Park on Saturday providing the top four men finishers, the women's winner and lifting both team trophies.

Serpies' top runner this winter, Nick Torry, ran away with the men's 5.55 miles race in 28 minutes 58 seconds finishing well clear of international marathon runner Huw Lobb (29:29), Richard Phillips (29:52) and Hugh Torry (30:39).

Next over the line in 30:53 was one of the youngest runners in the race, 17-year-old Liam White from Hercules Wimbledon with Serpentine's Andy Reeves (31:06) finishing four seconds ahead of Stragglers first finisher Ben Osborn.

Marc Snaith was first finisher for hosts Ranelagh taking 14th place in 32:45 with Hercules Wimbledon's Stuart Fraser first veteran over 40 in 33:09.

Ranelagh's John Shaw was top over 50 finisher in 33:42 with Stragglers' Ollie Upton top over 45 runner in 35:23.

Hercules Wimbledon's Peter Giles was first pensioner in 38:05.

Packing their scoring 10 among the first 17, Serpentine were easy team winners.

Ranelagh over 45 marathon runner Marie Synnott-Wells proved no match for Serpentine's Natalie Kolodziej in the Dysart Cup 4.12 miles event taking second place in 26:37 more than a minute behind the winner's 25:31.

Dulwich Runners' Teresa Gaillard was third in 27:08 ahead of the Serpentine pair of Catherine Higgs (27:16) and Penny Thorn (27:20).

Dorchie Cockerell was first Thames Hare & Hounds finisher in 27:31 but Thames fielded only four runners and failed to close in a team.

Teenager Michaela Knespl from Hercules Wimbledon was seventh in 28:05 with Thames runners veteran Vicky Filsell (28:32) and Enfys Jones (28:40) eighth and ninth and Ranelagh's second finisher Rachael Holmes 10th in 28:54.

Dysart Cup teams: 1 Serpentine 23; 2 Ranelagh 38; 3 Hercules Wimbledon 59.

* Cheam-based Kevin Quinn from Herne Hill posted his second victory in a week when he took the testing Pirie 10 miles cross country race on Farthing Downs, Coulsdon, on Saturday, battling through extremely muddy conditions.

He crossed the finishing line in 55:15 five seconds ahead of veteran Jason Simpson from organising club South London Harriers with Epsom & Ewell's Phil Sanger third more than three minutes behind in 58:56.

Quinn's close win in the Coulsdon mud came a week after he won trhe Beddington Park 10km road race by more than two minutes.

Next to finish in just outside the hour was Herne Hill's Mike Cummings (1:00:20).

Tadworth's Geoff Newton was first veteran over 60 in 1:07:11.

Thames Ditton-based South London Harrier Ruth Hutton was first woman in 1:08:27 ahead of South London Harriers clubmate Pippa Major (1:10:35) with Stragglers over 45 veteran Phyllis Flynn third six seconds later.
