Leatherhead Swimming Club won 23 gold, 11 silvers and five bronze medals at last weekend’s Wycombe District Open Meet.

Chloe Bean, 14, led the way with six golds – the 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley – four coming in national qualifying times.

Younger sister Lucy, 12, won gold in the 200m breaststroke and silver in the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke.

Hannah Shore, 17, achieved a British qualifying time in winning the 50m butterfly, also claiming gold in the 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle.

Chris Green continued his unstoppable form, taking gold in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and the 50m backstroke, silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Liam Mellett, 17, powered to first place in the 50m fly and 50m freestyle, as well as silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle.

David Andrews also took gold in his favoured events, the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

David Brazil, 14, added to Leatherhead’s gold collection in 200m backstroke; as did 10-year-old Ben Staig (50m backstroke), open-water swimmer Lauren Parsons (200m and 400m freestyle) and Louis Foster (50m fly).

There were also terrific performances by 16-year-old Tom Baxter who achieved a qualifying time for the European Deaf Swimming Championships; Emma Brown, 11, who powered to silver in the 50m freestyle, and Gabby Orlich, 12, who won silver in the 50m freestyle.

Head coach David Vine said: “Leatherhead achieved two British Championships times, six national qualifying times and 39 medals this weekend. We have a lot to be proud of!”
