Ranelagh Harriers’ senior women pulled off a surprise team win at Lloyd Park.
Although the champion-ships clashed with a mob match against Blackheath & Bromley, Ranelagh secured their first team triumph since 2006, narrowly beating Herne Hill and Thames Hare & Hounds.
They were led by 36-year-old Liz Kipling, who took silver in 31 minutes, 24 seconds, behind winner Sophie Morris (20:32).
“I am stunned by a little piece of shiny metal and can’t stop smiling,” said Kipling.
Herne Hill’s Karen Ellison was third (31:31), Belgrave’s Sarah Murphy fourth (21:32), Wimbledon Windmilers’ Ruth Clifton fifth (33:28), Serpentine’s Jane Fanning sixth (33:27) and Thames Hare & Hounds’ Liz Stavreski seventh (33:51).
Other leading Ranelagh Harriers: 9 Estelle Damant 34.10, 12 Marie Synnott-Wells 34.46, 40 Carola Richter 39.23.
Senior women’s teams: 1 Ranelagh 63; 2 Herne Hill 67; 3 Thames Hare & Hounds 76; 4 Wimbledon Windmilers 91; 5 Dorking & Mole Valley 118; 6 South London Harriers 123; 7 Dorking & Mole Valley 164.
