Twickenham-based Tony Jardine and co-driver Maurice Hamilton won their class at the Rallye Sunseeker in Bournemouth last weekend.
Despite difficult conditions, the pair finished their MG ZR in 30th overall in the opening round of the MSA Gravel Rally Championships.
The poor conditions faced by competitors in the forests around Ringwood meant the eighth stage of the rally at Stapehill had tho be cancelled.
“That was the toughest Rallye Sunseeker for at least 10 years,” said Jardine, a pundit for Sky Sports, who finished 30th overall.
“We were up to our axles in mud on certain parts of the rally but, apart from a small spin on special stage six, we did well to keep our MG on the right tracks.”
