Surbiton Hockey Club supporters who can’t get up the motorways to Chase Park tomorrow (Saturday, March 6) to see Surbiton take on home side Cannock in the EHL National Premier Division will still have a chance see highlights of the game on EHB TV from next Tuesday afternoon via englandhockey.co.uk
Hopefully, it won’t go the way of the previous time the team was due to be featured on the specialist sports channel when their away fixture in Nottingham against Beeston on February 21 had to be postponed on the morning of the game because of heavy snow.
Surbiton’s first appearance on the programme – a 4-1 defeat at home to East Grinstead on 14 February - is still available for viewing (for masochists!).
Surbiton, having halted a run of two defeats after Christmas with a 1-1 home draw against Loughborough Students last Sunday, will hope to get back to winning ways and consolidate their second position in the table (on 27 points from 13 fixtures, now six points behind leaders Reading).
Their sixth-placed opponents, trailing them by 11 points, will be anxious to make up the three points on Beeston to enable them to climb into the top five end-of-season Championship/EuroLeague Qualifier play-offs, which culminate at their Chase Park home on Monday 3 May.
