South London Storm began their pre-season preparations with a 30-28 victory over Harlequins U20 at Roehampton.
A much-chaneged Storm team took the lead after 10 minutes when new winger Matt Stringer finished off a fine back line move and Anton Gall converted.
Quins responded with an unconverted try of their own before another debutant, Adam Hargrave, stretched Storm’s lead to 10-4 after being set free by George Coogan.
A second converted try for Quins left the score at 10-10 at half-time.
Quins scored the first try of the second half, before tries in quick succession from Vicken Manougian and Lee McCarthy saw Storm edge 18-16 ahead.
Quins then had a quickfire double of their own and looked to have put the game to bed at 28-18.
With five minutes left, prop Adam Tran burst through for a great solo try and Gall converted.
From the restart, Quins were peanlised for laying down in the tackle and, from one last raid, Lee McCarthy scored under the posts and Gall converted to give Storm victory, Storm visit Footscray RL on March 27 and Leicester Phoenix on March 28.
