Addington Court Golf Club’s veterans’ section is organising a special golf event to raise money for Headley Court, the Ministry Of Defence rehabilitation centre for injured servicemen and women.
Organisers hope the event, on Wednesday, April, 14, will raise more than £2,000.
A £30 entrance fee includes entry to the golf event, coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch including wine.
Local businesses have contributed some fantastic prizes for the day, and Crown Golf, the owner/operator of the cllub, has donated a year’s free golf at Addington Court Golf Centre and their 29 sister golf clubs nationwide as a prize.
Event organiser Arthur Lyddal said: “We are delighted to be running our first ever Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre Open competition.
“The work that the staff at Headley Court do in assisting injured service personnel is second to none, but does not come free, and they need new facilities there.
“Anything we can give back to them and their patients is, in my book, the least we can do.”
The 18-hole golf tournament will be the focal point of the day, but there will also be trophies for the best scores (ladies and men), longest drives and a “nearest the pin” competition.
A Nissan car is also up for grabs for the first competitor to score a hole-in-one on the eighth hole, and there will be a raffle with some spectacular prizes.
Anyone interested in applying for raffle tickets, or who would like to support the cause, should contact organisers Arthur Lyddall on 020 8657 8240 or ajl@arthurlyddall.co.uk or Frank Cantelo on 020 8656 9202 or fradaca@blueyonder.co.uk
