Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium has unveiled a new look and significant upgrade of its facilities, writes Catherine Stewart.

London’s premier race track has seen refurbishment works totalling £400,000 dedicated to enhancing both restaurant and trackside amenities.

The project has seen the stand simply ‘switch sides’ across the stadium.

The newly refurbished stand houses a 240-seater restaurant and one new and one fully refurbished bar.

Race-goers will be able to enjoy uninterrupted views of the track and the new restaurant will be able to host corporate and charity events.

The trackside revamp includes a new bar, betting facilities and fast food outlet. The 3,100 capacity new-look stand and terracing officially opened for racing last Friday.

Keith Hallinan, general manager of Wimbledon, said: “These changes have been implemented to further improve customer experience, the quality of the environment and levels of service.

“Facilities such as the track’s two kitchens will be replaced with one larger, well equipped workspace that can be more easily overseen by the track’s head chef Conroy Boothe.

“As he is formerly of London’s Savoy, you can imagine that his input has been exacting as well as substantial when it comes to the look, feel and functionality of the new kitchen.

“The improved stand has a much more modern feel about it while losing none of the charm of greyhound racing - people are still close to the action.

“We’re confident that our customers will thoroughly enjoy the new facilities and Wimbledon experience.”
