Battersea-based Marlon Gasparotto has his eyes set on swimming for Britain at the 2016 Olympics after making the top-10 in his age group for the 400m freestyle.
The 14-year-old, who attends Whitgift School, is also fourth fastest in his age group for the 50m freestyle having clocked 25.50sec and has produced a time of 28.70sec for the 50m butterfly.
Gasporotto, junior club captain at Beckenham Swimming Club where he has been a member for more than five years, said: “My ambition is to compete in the 2016 Olympics either in the butterfly or the individual medley.
“I train 10 to 12 hours per week and although my rivals put in 20 hours a week I am still able to match them.
“My coach, Tony Beckley, says my talent is pulling me through and that I would be even better if I trained more.”
