More than 2,000 schoolchildren from 149 schools took part in the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships in Battersea Park on Tuesday, writes Chloe Chaplin.
THe youngsters, aged 11 to 18, competed against each other on 80 Concept2 rowing machines at the Battersea Evolution Centre.
A British record was broken when Sebastian Adams, a year seven pupil at the Royal Liberty School in Havering, rowed 580m in just two minutes.
The next generation of rowers were supported by British Olympian Tom Soesbury.
