Epsom College emerged victorious in their first invitational basketball tournament on Sunday.
The Epsom team played well throughout the four-team round robin tournament, beating City of London Freemen’s 24-13, Caterham 26-12 and Dulwich College 36-29, with team captain Christopher Chau scoring an impressive 27 points in the latter game.
Dulwich College took second spot with two wins, Caterham third with one win and City of London Freemen’s fourth. Presentations were made by Kevin Hibbs, a member of the Executive Board of the English Basketball Association.
“I’m delighted that the College team won our first tournament, which will now become an annual event.
The day was a tremendous success and enjoyed by all the schools taking part,” said College basketball coach Bob Chappell, who was recently appointed manager of the England Senior Men’s basketball team.
