Kenley's resurgence saw them gain revenge for a 5-1 opening day defeat against Cheam by beating the second-placed team in Surrey Open Hockey League Division One 3-0 last weekend.
Kenley started well, taking the game to Cheam, and Sean Fayle was just off target after a teasing cross.
Cheam’s only first-half chance was a bobbling shot from a penalty corner that the Kenley keeper confidently pushed around the post.
Kenley broke the deadlock after 20 minutes when Fayle powered the ball home from six yards.
In the second half, Cheam began to lay siege to the Kenley D but were thwarted by sturdy defending from Ben Keer and Martin Bateman in particular.
It was centre-back Paul Bateman who doubled their lead 10 minutes after the restart, scoring his eighth goal of the season from a penalty corner.
With Cheam seeing their promotion hopes slippin gaway, they pushed forward but were hit on the counter-attack when wingers Gary Maryan and Rufus Veness opened the door for Mark Hayden to fire home the third.
