Herne Hill Harriers’ senior men’s team successfully defended their team title for a second successive year in Sunday’s Eastleigh 10k Road Race.

The 10 Herne Hill athletes who made the trip down to Hampshire on Sunday were rewarded with a collection of personal best times in a highly competitive race.

In form Chris Busaileh came in first for the Harriers finishing in an excellent 8th place in a huge field of over 1500 runners and recording a time of 31.07mins. Brian Wilder also showing good form lately chased Chris home at a close interval to finish 13th, in another personal best time of 31.24mins.

The Harriers’ third team counter was Simon Coombes, who underlined his consistency finishing in 57th place with a time of 33.23mins. However, the run of the day belonged to Rajdave Singh, whose quick start to the race rewarded him with a huge personal best time of 33.32mins closing the winning four man team for the club.

Team backup was provided by Sarwar Khan, finishing in 68th place with a personal best of 34.09mins and Jonny Henderson in 71st place clocking 34.19mins. Herne Hill Harriers were not finished, however, as Paul Shiel ran a big personal best with a finishing time of 36.21mins in 116th. Rupert Mainwaring also ran very well to place 415th in 44.06mins and Club Veterans Team manager Dave Wilson completed the course in 46.16mins finishing in 528th place.

The Harriers’ newest club member, Stacey Ward, also ran an excellent race to place 4th overall in a very strong women's field and added herself to the list of Herne Hill runners who clocked personal bests on the day as she surpassed her previous best with a great time of 33.57mins.
