Banstead’s Matt Spriegel finished 56 not out as Surrey set a new 40-over world record in their Clydesdale Bank 40 39-run Duckworth-Lewis triumph over Glamorgan on Wednesday.
Wandsworth-born Lions skipper Rory Hamilton-Brown smashed 115 at the Brit Oval to lead his side to 386 for three in an innings reduced to 38 overs by rain.
Glamorgan responded with 187 for five from a rain-reduced 20 overs as Surrey’s Steven Cheetham - signed on loan from Lancashire earlier in the day - bore the brunt of their brave run chase to post figures of 0-61 off four overs.
