Herne Hill Harriers failed in their bid to land the Southern Women’s League title for the first time, losing their unbeaten record for the season in their final match at Norman Park, Bromley, on Saturday.
Hosts Blackheath & Bromley recorded their first victory of the season as Herne Hill paid the penalty for having their forces split with the British League finals at Hendon.
Herne Hill finished fifth of the six teams in the cup final, with Jade Phillips, in the 100m (12.65), and Charlotte Kanani Parson, in the javelin (35.30m), their only winners.
Cup result: 1 Exeter 75; 2 Rugby & Northampton 73; 3 Swansea 72; 4 Blackpool Wyre & Fylde 64; 5 Herne Hill 63; 6 Southampton 59.
Kanani-Parsons won the javelin again at Bromley (36.96m).
Davis (59.3) was second in the 400m, won by Sutton & District’s Susan Bovill (57.8).
Bryony Phillips, who threw the hammer at Hendon, won the shot and javelin B events.
Herne Hill had three other winners – Jane Ejimafugha, in the triple jump (11.51m), Michelle Watson, in the 200m A race (25.6), and Alexander Shamloll (400m B).
Herne Hill failed by just 2.5 points to take the title.
Sutton & District gained maximum points in the 1,500m, through Emer Kerr (5:16.7) and Monica Isaac (5:26.3), and long jump through Sarah Wellstead (5.80m) and Sarah Abrams (5.13m), while Sophie Milton took the high jump B.
Jodie Favell was a double winner for Sutton taking the 100 and 400m hurdles in 15.5 and 61.0.
Epsom & Ewell’s only winner was high jumper Julia Machin.
