New Malden’s Tom Onslow-Cole may not top the British Touring Car Championship on points, but he has certainly been leading the way on the track.
The 23-year-old Team Aon driver goes into this week’s penultimate race weekend at Donington Park 24 points adrift of driver’s championship leader Jason Plato.
The signs of success are good with recent stats showing Onslow-Cole has led more laps (107 out of 454) and for more miles (192 out of 869) than any other driver in the competition.
The former Brooklands College student must be within 52 points of the summit before the final weekend at Brands Hatch to have a chance of claiming the BTCC crown.
