Luke Dorn has signed a new three year deal with Harlequins RL which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2013 season. The 28-year-old Australian half back has been outstanding since returning to the capital in 2009, ending the 2010 campaign as Quins’ top try scorer with 18 from 19 appearances.
Dorn originally signed for the London Broncos from the Sydney Roosters, scoring 24 tries in his debut season in 2005 but after two years he moved to Salford City Reds and then on to Castleford Tigers before returning to the Twickenham Stoop. A real crowd favourite, thanks to his try poaching capabilities and electric acceleration, Dorn’s new deal is a tremendous boost for the club.
“I am very proud to play for Harlequins RL and even though the club have been through some difficult times, I have shown my commitment because I believe we can take the club where it deserves to be,” he said. “London has become my home and at the end of my three year contract I will have lived her for seven years. “ Harlequins Rugby League’s acting head coach Rob Powell believes that the re-signing of Dorn is a huge boost for the club. “It’s a fantastic signing,” he said. “To have a player of Luke’s talent is testament to the club’s desire for success.
“Luke is one of the most exciting players to watch in the game, his track record of scoring tries demonstrates that. I hope he stays injury free next season, so that he can have an even bigger year in Super League.”
