The 13 boats that contested the GP14 Open Meeting at Hampton Sailing Club enjoyed some excellent sailing, with a fair south easterly wind blowing throughout the day.
Those taking part, as well as duty team and spectators alike were privileged to see the Dunkirk veterans aboard a number of the Dunkirk Little Ships as they passed the club enroute for a dinner at Weybridge.
A very warm welcome was given to them as they passed and the start of the first race was delayed to let them clear our start line.
Race one had Andy Wadsworth crewed by Helen Allen from BTYC take the lead from early in the first lap only to have the lead snatched from him on the very last lap of the race by David Innes crewed by Jon Denyer from Frensham Pond Sailing club.
Third spot going to James Ward crewed by Richard Whitehill from Papercourt, with Simon Girven crewed by his brother Tim from Hampton Sailing club in fourth.
Race two brought aa course change and a change of fortune for a Hampton boat, with Simon Girven overtaking Richard Parsloe crewed by Jaki Pring also from Hampton on the second lap and holding off the challenge of James Ward to take the bell at the end.
The changed course kept the fleet much more compact and led to some very closely fought racing.
The third and deciding race had Richard Parsloe take an early lead only to be passed by James Ward on the second lap. Andy Wadsworth ended in third place after a closely fought battle with Richard Parsloe.
