Barnes women continued their dreadful start to the hockey season with a 2-0 home defeat by Exeter.
That made it back-to-back defeats and, having lost just once last season and still getting edged out of the national play-offs, the prospects don’t look great.
But Gemma Dunnett insisted: “We can still recover. We were unlucky with Exeter’s first goal, which was going wide before deflecting off a defender.
“They got a decent second, but we were all over them and did everything except score.
“We had six short corners without converting so, this week, we will be back on the training ground for some more practice at finishing.”
