Following their excellent performances in the Age Group World Championships in Budapest earlier this month, Matt Chapman and Beckie Woodland continued in the same vein on Sunday winning the Windfarmer Olympic Distance Triathlon in Lydd.
In very windy conditions they completed the 1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run in very respectable times of 2.04.42 and 2.29.28 respectively.
In doing so they also won the SLH Tri Club Olympic Distance Championship, held in conjunction with the event.
The club had a tremendous turnout for the championship.
Christine Costiff was third lady overall in 2.34.00 and first in her age group category as were Brian Hennessey in 2.20.47, John Worth in 2.23.54 and Harvey Hughes in 2.41.39. Others who performed extremely well and completed the event in very tricky conditions were Ryan Evans (2.23.13), Phil Scarles (2.28.20), Ian Taylor (2.32.24), Martin Long (2.44.27), Nick McNamara (2.49.34), Lucy Ashdown Parkes (2.51.05), Steve Rigby (2.53.57), Nigel Costiff (2.56.43), Steve Court (3.01.33), Bruce Tomkins (3.03.28), Rachel Webber (3.14.54), Donna Brown (3.20.48) and Lisa Salmon (3.25.54).
