Twickenham biker Simon Low defied a broken foot suffered last time out to score points in the penultimate round of this year’s British 125cc Championship at Silverstone on Sunday.
The 23-year-old qualified his Team Shop4bikers/Dutch-2-UK Racing Honda 25th on the grid and brought it home 13th in a race reduced to nine-laps because of wet weather.
It was his fourth points haul of the season and Low was understandably delighted with the result.
“With all the problems with the engine mapping in qualifying and my foot, if someone had said I’d have got a finish this weekend I’d have been happy,” he said.
“The circuit was unbelievably slippy, almost like there was oil down on the track, and although I got a decent start, it wasn't one of my best.
“It was a shame to lose two places on the last lap, but to get a finish and be in the points has left me well chuffed.”
Low heads to the final round at Oulton Park next weekend looking to cap his season with a top ten finish.
