Gino Rea blamed himself for the crash that knocked him out of the World Supersports race at Imola on Sunday.
Having started from ninth on the grid, Rea had moved up to fourth position when he lost the front of the bike when changing direction onto the back straight.
“It was the first time I have crashed in a Superstock or Supersport race in my road race career,” said Rea.
The final round of the championship is at Magny-Cours, France, on October 3.
