Major Edward Ross of the Royal Dragoon Guards ran a half marathon in just over two hours to raise money for the families of servicemen and women killed in Afghanistan.
Ross, 44, of Wandsworth, who has type one diabetes and had a minor heart attack earlier this year took part in Run to the Beat in Greenwich on September 26.
His official time was two hours, four minutes, two seconds. The money he raised goes to the Regiment Association.
The son of a former Royal Marine, he said; “I was really quite emotional as I finished, thinking about the guys and the challenge I have faced considering my condition.”
