Croydon Harriers' young guns will be out to cause a shock at the Croydon 10k this Sunday, following impressive performances last weekend.
Peter Chambers ran the fastest lap of anyone, six minutes 59 seconds, in the U17 race at Surrey Cross Country relays while Mark Plackett, 7.08, came in third as the team, which included Ben Saville, 8.20, finished fifth overall.
Chambers and Plackett have both been tipped to make an impression in the senior race at the 10k event in Lloyd Park.
In the U15 boys event, Croydon Harriers' B team (Patrick Lucas, Stirling Gibbons and Joshua Haasz) came home seventh.
More than 300 entries have already been accepted for the senior race with a total of 500 runners expected on the day, with more than 50 set to line-up in the kids event.
Olympians Martyn Rooney and Donna Fraser, both Croydon Harriers, will be there to cheer the runners on as will teenage discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, who came sixth in the world junior championships earlier this year.
The race beings at 10.10am in Lloyd Park Avenue and you can enter at croydon10k.com.
