Herne Hill Harriers’ youngsters enjoyed their most successful Bruce Judd Junior Cross Country Relays at Stoke Park, Guildford on Saturday, winning gold and silver medals and achieving one of the fastest runs of the day.

The Harriers took gold in the Under 15 boys’ relay and silver in the Under 13 girls’ and Under 17 men’s races, making it the most consistent performance by the Harriers in this event yet.

In the Under 15 boys’ race, Amin Jisow ran a well judged race to keep in contention on the first leg coming in a close second. He handed over to Merhawi Yemane who went into the lead after 200 metres and built up a lead running what was the fastest leg of the day.

Merhawi handed over 300m clear to newcomer Robert Hanson who was chased by a strong Windsor athlete. Robert’s lead was reduced but he held on to finish by 100m to record the Club’s first ever win in a boys race in this competitive event Saskia Millard, Victoria Picken and Natalja Woolny achieved second place in the Under 13 girls’ relay, while triathlete James Allen, Jordan Maurice and Lewis Lloyd finished in a close second in the Under 17 men’s relay, adding two silvers to the Harriers’ medal tally.

Herne Hill Harriers Katie Snowden ran the fastest leg of the day in the Under 17 women's race, combining with Maisie Hillare and Jessica Knight to finish in fourth place.
