OPENING MATCH: The winter cross country season starts in earnest this weekend. Belgrave Harriers organise the 2XU Surrey Men’s League Division One match on Wimbledon Common, while Striders of Croydon and Dulwich Runners jointly host the first Division Two match in Lloyd Park, Croydon. Tadworth stage the joint Division Three and four match in Nork Park. At all three locations, there is a young athletes’ race at 2.30pm with the seniors off at 3pm. Kingston & Polytechnic host the Ladies League opener in Richmond Park (noon).
PHOTO-FINISH: New Malden-based David Littlewood MBE is acting as the international photo-finish judge at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. The Hercules Wimbledon president is overseeing the work of the photo-finish judge team at the Jawahairial Nehru Stadium where the track and field athletics is being staged until next Thursday.
ON THE ROAD: Croydon Harriers stage their Lexus 10km road race from Lloyd Park Avenue on Sunday (10.10am).
