Belgrave Harriers international Richard Ward won two races in the space of five hours last Saturday.
First, he headed 687 runners to win the sixth anniversary Bushy Park 5km parkrun.
It was his 12th victory in 17 appearances at the event but his time of 15 minutes, 51 seconds was some way off his course best of 15:13 set in February 2006.
Julia Bleasdale, of Thames Hare & Hounds (right), was second, with Belgrave’s over-45 veteran Mike Trees third (17:11).
Stragglers’ Vicky Callaway (19:23) was next woman ahead of Runnymeade Runners’ Sally Stubbs.
Ward then headed to Richmond Park for Kingston & Polytechnic’s opening promotion of the season.
He was a comfortable winner of the five-mile cross country race in (27:37) ahead of the Thames Hare & Hounds quartet of Simon Molden (28:03), veteran Dave Symons (28:38), Nic Gould (28:50) and Kyle Goulding (28:56).
Andy Arbour (29:07) took the Bert Long Trophy in winning the Kingston & Polytechnic championship decided in conjunction with the event.
Teenager George Corcoran (29:07), who won the junior championship, and Craig Price (29:17) were second and third in the club championship.
Thames Hare & Hounds’ Ruth Clifton (30:45) was first woman beating clubmate Claire Day (33:44) and Kingston & Polytechnic’s Maddy Hardwick (34:13), who took the women’s club title.
Ant Budarkiewicz (33:23) won the veterans’ George Harrup Trophy.
