England star Kevin Pietersen has confirmed he has signed a playing contract with Surrey until the end of September 2011.
The 30-year-old South African-born Test batsman spent three weeks at the Oval in the summer in a bid to find some form ahead of the Ashes series in Australia, which starts in Brisbane this week.
Pietersen, who is centrally contracted with the ECB, will see his availability for the Lions governed by England coach Andy Flower.
But the former Hampshrie man hopes to turn out for Surrey as often as he can.
“I’m delighted to be playing for Surrey next season, as I really enjoyed my time with them at the end of this year," he said.
“I hope I can get some games in over the summer and spend time at this great Club, meeting more of the staff and supporters.
"I look forward to catching up with the guys when I get back from the Ashes."
