Alan Mullally reckons England will retain the Ashes this winter, writes Paul Eldridge.
The former England bowler cannot see a repeat of the nightmare tour four years ago when England were whitewashed 5-0.
“I am confident we will win comfortably,” he said.
“The Aussies have no bowling attack to speak of and our bowling options are much better.
“Much will depend on the conditions, especially in Brisbane and Perth, but I believe England have a stronger team.”
Born in Southend and raised in Perth, Mullally is now a familiar figure in these parts, helping out in a friend’s shop in Sutton and studying for a fitness instructor’s course.
He is also about to undertake his level two cricket coaching course, as well as turning out occasionally for Ashtead Cricket Club.
And he will take centre stage on the eve of the second Test in Adelaide on Friday, December 3, when he takes part in a question and answer session at Sutton Cricket Club from 7.30pm.
Anyone wishing to ask Mullally a question at the event should call Paul Liddiard on 07793 630622 or e-mail Mike Woods at marketing@suttoncricketclub.com
