Richmond IBC won 2-1 in a three-rink Surrey Inter Club League match at Mole Valley, claiming a 50-49 points success to take 14 of the 18 league points available.
John Farrell, Dennis Beckett, David Todd and Brian Lawton won their rink 18-14, with Peter Hickman, Graham Dawber, Eddie Tindall and Jim Burns recording a 20-19 success.
Mike Hickman’s rink was pipped by four shots.
Things didn’t go so well for Richmond in Sunday’s Inter Club Top Ten League match with Sutton IBC.
The pairs and triples were played away and Richmond lost both.
While at home in the fours and singles the fours went down but a very good result for Peter Hickman in the singles who beat the current over 60s singles champion, Neil Asten 21-16. Peter went 13-1 up but Neil fought back and made a good challenge On Sunday afternoon, Richmond hosted the Surrey Executives in a four-rink friendly.
It is always a hard game and the executives were unbeaten last year.
Richmond put up a fight though, losing 65-57 with Dave Crimp, John Penfold and David Todd winning their rink 21-16.
There was also a draw and two defeats.
