The US Masters Golf Tournament, which starts this Thursday, is always the trigger for most golfers to dust down their clubs and head back to the golf course. With green fees in Surrey averaging around £22.00 for midweek golf, and £30.00 for weekend golf, it’s no surprise that golfers of all abilities are looking at ways to reduce their costs.
Chipstead Golf Club have provided a unique opportunity for golfers of all ages to experience midweek and weekend golf for a fraction of the price when joining the club as an Academy member. This membership allows you to play on a Monday, Thursday and Friday at anytime, as well as on a Sunday afternoon for under £11.00 per week. In addition there are 12 ‘one to one’ lessons from one of the Club’s PGA coaches.
Director of Golf at the Club, Gary Torbett, a former Open Championship player himself said “We may not have as many rhododendrons and lilies as Augusta, but we certainly have a picturesque and well kept course. To join us here at Chipstead and pay the equivalent of £11 per week seems to make a great deal of sense in the current climate if you want to improve your golf, and meet new like minded people.”
In addition to playing rights Academy members can use the impressive clubhouse facilities throughout the week, which includes a bar and restaurant. There is also a social programme throughout the year which includes theme events, quiz nights, bistro evenings and other activities.
