Coombe Hill Golf Club's Lauren Blease blamed the collapse of her swing for her failure to make the cut at the English women's amateur open strokeplay championship in Yorkshire last week.
The Kingston 21-year-old, who won the south regional title last month, could only watch as 15-year-old Charley Hull carded 13 under par - including a six under final round - to lift the crown at Alwoodley Golf Club near Leeds.
The former Epsom College student had hoped for a strong showing but will have to wait until next week's British women's amateur open strokeplay tournament at Royal Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, to put things right.
"It was really disappointing not to make the cut. My swing wasn't good at all," she said.
"The course is really tight and there is a lot of heather, so if you miss the fairways your are going to get in to trouble.
"All Ic an do is get back out on the practise course and hope to do better in the next on.
"Charley deserved to win. She is a great player."
