Wandsworth made a glorious start to the new Balfour Beatty London Youth Games season in the cross country event at Parliament Hill Fields last weekend.
The borough, who were second to Richmond in the overall standings last season, won the U13 girls event with Breagha Campbell, of James Allen’s Girls’ School, and Saskia Millard, of Alleyns, taking silver and bronze respectively.
When the totals were added up from all the age group races, Wandsworth were second - once again behind Richmond.
"It was a really good race," said Campbell.
"The final straight was really tough and I just wanted to hang in there but I’m happy with second.
“I love running for Wandsworth and the team management is very good.
"I usually run for the Herne Hill Harriers and have swam at London Youth Games events before.”
Competitions will take place in different sports throughout the year in the lead up to the Youth Games finals at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre from June 28.
