Richmond prepared for this Saturday's local derby with Barnes at the Athletic Ground (3pm)by winning 48-19 at Old Albanians last Saturday.
They fell 7-0 behind when Albanians winger Vercoe touched down in the corner and fly-half Greig converted, but stormed back to lead 34-7 at half-time.
With Tom Leigh kicking well, full-back Tom Drewe always prominent, Joe Ajuwa a handful on the right wing and skipper Owen Gregory probing intelligently, Richmond scored five first-half tries.
They came from Rohan Steyl (two), Tim Cook and van Schalkwyk (two), with Cook converting three of them and kicking a penalty.
Albanians raised their game in the second-half and replied through tries by Greig and van de Hoek to reduce the arrears to 34-19.
But Richmond dug in for the last 15 minutes and Drewe was well supported by Piers Gregory in a break which led to Steve Hunt touching down for Cook to convert. Finally, with the Richmond scrum now dominant, the Albanians collapsed a scrum and the excellent referee awarded a penalty try.
