Boss Alan Devonshire has admitted the form of Hampton & Richmond Borough veteran Matt Elverson forced him to release former first-choice centre-back Yiadom Yeboah, writes Stuart Amos & Les Rance.

The Beveree chief let the 29-year-old join Southern League Northwood on a dual registration, while also showing the exit door to Adam Cooke (on-loan) and Ayman Mashali (released).

They have been replaced by two 20-year-olds in former Hayes midfielder Marvin Bartlett and forward Elliott Frost.

The move comes four weeks after Yeboah, who has started eight first-team fixtures this season, featured in maulings at Bromley and Boreham Wood.

But the Beavers have found their form since Elverson's recall, including Tuesday's 2-2 draw against promotion favourites Heybridge Swifts.

"Matt has come in and done very well for us and the boys I have let go want to be playing regularly," said Devonshire ahead of Saturday's FA Trophy clash at home to Southern Premier side Hitchin Town.

"Yeboah is getting on a bit and, with guys playing well elsewhere, I couldn't change the side to accommodate him, but the door is still open for him to come back.

"I could have kept him and the others but you have to be fair to them."

Lawrence Yaku and Jon Henry-Hayden were on the scoresheet as Hampton twice came from behind on Tuesday night.

Hampton started well and it was against the run of play that the home side took the lead after 35 minutes.

Gary Burrell was given too much room in the six-yard area, firing in from a corner.

Yaku levelled the score six minutes after half-time when he seized on a long clearance from keeper Matt Lovett.

Heybridges's second also came after a long spell of Beavers dominance, 10 minutes from time through Richard Jolly.

Fortunately justice prevailed and the Beavers earned a point four minutes later.

A long throw from their skipper Dean Wells was not dealt with by the home side and Henry-Hayden thumped the ball into the net from close range.

Hampton: Matt Lovett; Marvin Bartley (Dudley Gardner, 77), Marcello Fernandes, Matt Elverson (Elliott Godfrey, 83), Glen Harris (Jon Henry-Hayden, 65), Dean Wells, Alan Inns, Lawrence Yaku, Ian Hodges, Barrie Matthews, Kelvin McIntosh.

The well-deserved draw continued the Beavers' recovery from a three-game blip that saw them dumped out of the FA Cup and ship nine goals in two league games.

Since then, Hampton have beaten AFC Wimbledon, drawn against Brentford and lifted the Middlesex Super Cup.

Apart from Ryan Lake (groin) and Graham Harper (hamstring), Devonshire is hoping to continue the revival against Hitchin and put the memory of this year's FA Cup exit behind him.
